Budapest War Memorial

The following crew members of 178 Squadron lost on the 14th October 1944 and named on the Budapest Memorial are the following; Sgt Robinson, Sgt Molyneux, Sgt Jibson, Sgt Gerrard and Sgt Fiest my Uncle. Were they from the same aircraft, and did the pilot survive? Regards John Tomkins

Yes 13/14 October were the Marshalling yards at Szekesfehervar.
The rest of the details match the ORBs.

The following Luftwaffe claim relates to the loss of EW280:-

13-14 October 1944

7./NJG6 Oblt Josef Kraft B-24 Tamasi (Hungary) 20:36 (Kraft's 45th victory).

Kraft's other claim on this night (his 46th), was:-

7./NJG6 Oblt Josef Kraft Wellington SE Barcs (Hungary) 20:46.
